ArtAc was founded in 2015 by Aviram Alter and Asaf Ophir, two passionate engineers with over 40 years of combined experience in technology. We’ve been part of the evolution — from the days when servers were packed in metal racks to today’s complex, cloud-native architectures. Over the years, we’ve designed, built, and managed large-scale production systems that run mission-critical workloads every day.

Case Studies

Zesty is a cloud cost optimization company that develops a holistic platform to slash cloud costs, both in the application and infrastructure layers.

When we began working with Zesty, they utilized over 100 AWS Lambda functions. This architecture fueled their agile early growth, but as they scaled, they saw an opportunity to unify their deployment standards and build a robust Kubernetes backend.

We partnered to create a “Global Pipeline” now used in over 200 repositories. This dynamic pipeline automatically adapts to the language (Python, Go) and deployment type, allowing developers to move fast while maintaining high security standards.

For the infrastructure, we established production-grade EKS clusters using Terraform. We tuned Karpenter for cost-efficient autoscaling and implemented ArgoCD for seamless GitOps deployment.

We also co-developed a “DevOps API,” enabling developers to create clusters on demand. Today, Zesty’s K8S environment is stable, highly available, and scalable.

Robotemi is a robotics company that makes autonomous robots for use in various industries.

When we first took on Robotemi as a client, they had a simple and basic cloud architecture on AWS, with a monolithic API and some EC2 machines. The main challenge was to take the existing development architecture and turn it into a multi-region, highly-available, Production-ready architecture.

We set out first to create new environments using Terraform, to reduce manual mistakes. We split apart the monolith into microservices, Dockerized them and deployed them on AWS ECS for a quick turnaround that required little developer workload, as they were focused on the product. We made sure every piece of the architecture was highly available in the multiple regions where Robotemi’s clients were.

We also had another major challenge: the robots were sold globally, and in China. The robots in China needed to be able to communicate with the robots outside of China. This presented a unique challenge, due to the firewall blocking regular communication and slowing everything down. Working with partners in Alibaba Cloud, using VPNs and proxy servers, we were able to create a connection between Alibaba and AWS, and ensure quick and easy communication between all robots.

These additions, as well as extensive monitoring and alerting for all Production systems, took Robotemi’s cloud architecture to the next level and helped it maintain stability while scaling.
